This basement has it all: storage, study desk, board games, entertainment and a home gym! Feature paint colours, a decorative bulkhead, and light fixtures bring visual division within the space, breaking up the open concept design.

The family that dwells above the basement has a very active lifestyle and wanted to maximize the space for their individual activities. The homeowner’s top priority was maintaining their preferred contemporary style, while keeping to their budget.

Keeping the budget on track while incorporating the contemporary style was achievable by sourcing pre-fabricated cabinets, wall paneling, and barnwood doors. The simple and clean white cabinets with black hardware don’t pull your eye away from the natural wood elements like the bamboo countertop in the office area, the slat wall panel by the tv, and the maple barn door to the gym. The gym came together with the use of the teal feature paint, rubber tile floor, and a custom neon sign that gave the space a fun personal touch and a bit of extra motivation for those long training days. A water bottle fill up station was added for convenience.
